Congressman Richard E. Neal, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno Sarno, State Representative Angelo J. Puppolo Jr., and Park Chairman Brian Santaniello will be announcing a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to renovate Nathan Bill Park in East Forest Park.
The grant is part of Mayor Sarno’ s commitment, along with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Federal Government, to rebuild Springfield and make improvements in areas affected by the 2011 tornado.
The City, in conjunction with the East Forest Park Civic Association and area residents, developed a master plan for Nathan Bill Park.
Improvements will include new tennis courts, improved athletic fields, improvements to the existing playground and swings, a new splash pad, landscape improvements and improved parking. The project is out for public bid and construction will be completed by fall 2015.
